Baby Carson

At 5:42 on October 16th while talking to my sister, my water broke. At first I wasn't sure if it was just a late pregnancy inconvenience. I was taking lasagna out of the oven and wasn't sure if I just peed a little or my water broke. After debating for a little while I called Micah and said I needed him to take me to the hospital, but first I NEEDED EGG NOG! Luckily Micah was done with his route and was already close to home, but he DID stop and get me a carton of egg nog. I wasn't in a huge rush, because I wasn't quite sure if my water had broken or not so I let him shower and we ate our lasagna.

We started to the hospital at like 6:50 and I was totally expecting to get sent home because I was one: scared because I was terrified of having the baby, and 2: because I didn't think my water really broke. When getting to the hospital and telling the lady in labor and delivery what had happened, she said..ya that sounds fake you bent over and your water broke but I will check. She checked and my water had definitely broken. So then the next thing was to get my iv's in...which was one of the worst parts of giving birth. I have really small veins and only the lab tech in the ob office has ever been able to get to them. but it took 4 people lots of bleeding and one and a half hours to get the iv in me. LOVELY.

Then they finally took me to my room. My doctor wasn't on call so they were just going to see how things went thru the night. Well my doctor got there at 6:30 and I still hadn't had my baby, so he induced me. I tell ya what. I never want to be induced again. It is the most unpleasant surprise of contractions I have ever had. They started me out at a 3 and moved it up to a 6 with in an hour. I went from not feeling contractions to almost constant pain. I did want an epidural, so I had to hurry and get one and get pumped FULL of fluids. So my now swollen body, became twice as swollen. 15 minutes after my epidural I was ready to push. I had watched all the birthing videos and they only pushed a few minutes it seemed. 4 hours later at 2:31pm baby carson was finally born. I was so tired and overwhelmed with love. all of that awful hard work brought me this wonderful little spirit. words cant express what I felt when the doctor handed me my perfect little boy. it was one of the most spiritual experiences ive ever had.

I am so lucky because we have the best child ever. he is happy, and loves to sleep....and eat...a lot. at his last appointment carson weighed 12lbs 2oz. that was 3 weeks ago...so im sure hes bigger now. we feel so blessed to have this wonderful little guy in our home. he has won both of our hearts!
